Nature Recovery Plan
Nature Recovery Plan
Eric Moss

The Nidderdale National Landscape Nature Recovery Plan sets out how we will work together to enhance biodiversity across the National Landscape. This plan was produced through consultation with the many different partners who have an interest in land management and conservation across the National Landscape, including farmers, land managers, government agencies, and environmental NGOs.

Our Collaborative Approach

The Plan identifies actions across the four main habitat types found in the National Landscape: moorland, grassland, woodland, and freshwater. It sets out the shared vision for each habitat, the issues that need to be addressed, and a description of how we will work together to deliver nature recovery. The plan makes use of opportunity mapping to show where efforts should be focused to maximize the enhancement of existing habitats and the creation of new habitats.

Key Focus Areas

Rough track heading over moorland with blue sky

Protecting and restoring moorland habitats to support a diverse range of species.

Species rich grassland with grasses and purple flowers

Enhancing grassland areas to promote biodiversity and sustainable land use.

Beech trees with leaves turning brown for the autumn

Expanding and connecting woodland habitats to create resilient ecosystems.

Fast flowing stream flanked by green grass and purple heather

Improving freshwater habitats to support aquatic life and water quality.

A Partnership Plan

The Nidderdale National Landscape Nature Recovery Plan is a partnership plan for everyone who has an interest in land management and conservation in Nidderdale National Landscape. By working together, we can ensure that our efforts are coordinated and effective, leading to a thriving natural environment for all.
